On Memorial Day 2026 join us for a hike and stroll through the former Camp Hero, which was from 1942 to 1981 the largest military base ever operational in East Hampton Town, and the beautiful Point Woods.  This isn’t only military history.  The State Parks trails in Camp Hero feature more than a half dozen bridges over the area’s numerous running brooks.  Meet at the Point Woods trailhead, roadside parking on Camp Hero Road, Montauk.  Bring snacks, liquids & tick protection.  Hike end time is approximate.
