From the toll booth, walk the red trail through woods with some moderate hills, crossing streams and then on to a nearly flat path. Along the way, various flora will be pointed out and mention will be made of signs of (or actual) animals including the smell of a fox if he’s been around. After viewing the main pond and talking about its purposes, you can take a visit to the exhibits on the first floor inside the mansion. Address: 581 Jericho Turnpike (a.k.a. rte. 25), Smithtown.
