SUN OCT 18 – CORDWOOD LANDING CO. PK., MILLER PLACE:
12:00 to 1:30 – 1.5 to 2.2 mi. – moderate pace – small hills. Registration required: call or email Jane 631-689-1568 or jfasullo2@gmail.com – This is a joint hike with the Sierra Club L.I. Group
Explore the 70-acre hardwood forest, a hidden gem with a history. The site was the former site of Camp Barstow, a Girl scout camp until the county bought the land to protect it in the 1980’s. It was expanded in 2017 to make the total acres of the preserve we see today. Visit the cliffs on L.I. Sound, and the Landing for which the preserve is named. You’ll hear about any flora and fauna we see signs of. The Preserve is on the right (East) side of Landing Road in Miller Place. No restrooms. There are not a lot of parking spaces so please try to carpool. Address: Pringle Road, Miller Place. Any rain cancels this event.
