SIERRA CLUB EVENT: MORTON WILDLIFE PRESERVE, NOYACK

1.5 mi. - 1.5 to 2 hrs.- mostly flat, dirt and sand trails - Registration required: Call or email Jane 631-689-1568 or jfasullo2@gmail.com. The E. A. Morton National Wildlife Refuge is a 187-acre peninsula on Noyack and Little Peconic Bays. Its diverse habitats include sandy & rocky beaches and wooded bluffs overlooking the Bays. Upland forests, fields, ponds, salt marsh, beaches and a lagoon are used by a variety of wildlife, some of which we might see such as white-tailed deer, eastern chipmunk, long-tailed duck, common goldeneye, white-winged scoter, nuthatch, tufted titmice, turkeys, and chickadees. Tide permitting, we might venture onto the land that becomes an island in high tide. Quaint Sag Harbor is not too far to the east. Restrooms open year-round. Rain cancels.
